RED Objects is a research group of practitioners and academics who explore the relationships between design, craft and visual art at the School of Design Studies, College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Launched in 2011, RED Objects comprises Karina Clarke, Jacqueline Clayton, Katherine Moline, Wendy Parker, Roderick Bamford & Liz Williamson.

The symposium will explore notions of collaboration in terms of local, regional and international partnerships in design practices that negotiate craft, visual art and emergent design trajectories.

Symposium papers will address a range of aspects of collaboration between designers and makers, designers and artisans, between groups of designers, and artists who explore design in collaboration with design fabricators in terms of technologies and materials.

This exhibition showcases recent practice-based research that investigates the parameters of design in relation to visual art and craft. The works explore how emergent interdisciplinary practices question and challenge social conventions regarding histories of design and cultural exchange.
