2008 – Present

The connection between memory, cloth and containment are recurring ideas in Liz Williamson’s work. The Sac and Loop series explores protection and shelter in experimental woven structures. The soft, inviting forms that result are evocative of nests and rudimentary vessels, both organic and domestic spaces for protection.

The Sac series works are woven in a double layer structure using plant-dyed fabric (partly recycled), and reference the rich tradition of rag rug weaving.
